You have to remember that as you increase the voltage to the processor, this increases the amount of power it consumes, even at idle, causing a processor to idle warmer then what it would at stock settings. Those temps look fine either way. Its load temps you need to worry about.

Agreed.

My i750 @ 3.6 idles around 27-28 stock and 31-32 OC'ed with 22 degree ambient temps. I dont remember what cooler I have on there however... been too long, it works good, other then during it every few weeks, I stopped playing inside my box all the time.

I'm aware that the more voltage it pumps the hotter it idles, no offence to you by the way, just saying. Though the main reason i'm curious about the idle temp is and I should of stated it first but at stock clocks and voltage, it idles only 4-5C cooler. I've re-seated the cooler so many times I lost count by now. I was expecting the C14 to be able to idle stock at around mid 20s but I haven't tried the stock cooler yet though so don't really have anything to compare to. I'm yet to apply the IndigoExtreme I have a side but since i've only got 2 with me and I know that it will take at least 3-4C off temps i'd rather be satisfied with ordinary TIM then i'll apply the Indigo so it gives sorta incase temp headroom.

Thanks

I stopped reading there.

Every CPU/setup/OC will give slightly different result. Depends on the case ventilation/fans, are you open benching it with a 12 inch fan on the motherboard, ect...

So you are idling around 30 degrees on a OC'ed CPU, without knowing more details, i'll say you are in the ballpark, not worry about it, enjoy your PC.

I'll give you an example with my own set up, I will idle a good 5-10C cooler when i run my 940 at stock compared to when I run it at 3.8 or 4GHz, this is all due to the increase vCore and the fact its running at a faster speed.

Noctua Intel LGA775/1156 Heatsink Temperature Comparisons - NH-C14 FrostyTech Review

considering a little while back, 40/50 C idle was normal

Very normal. Enjoy it! The 2600k runs soooo much cooler than 1366 socket processors. Dont reseat too much, I damaged my 1366 board recently:(
