Default USB 3.0 2.5/3.5" Docking Station

Hey guys, I recently got this docking station from NCIX:
NCIX.com - Buy Eagle Tech ET-CSKSU3-BK 2.5IN/3.5IN SATA to SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Hard Drive Docking Station Black - Eagle Tech Computers - ET-CSKSU3-BK - in Canada

I just opened it today and hooked it up to my P8Z68-Vpro, i52500K system. I've tried using USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 with this docking station and everytime the drive just comes and goes away from "My Computer" and it constantly pops up and says I need to format it.

I plug it in my old usb2.0 sata adapter and it shows up fine.

Does anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening?

basically you tried all the usb ports?

it might not be getting proper power,doesn't like your drive...or,try a live cd and see if its

soft related but i would doubt it :)

32 or 64 bit OS ?

run the intel inf app to get current chipset drivers, also mite be the HDD is unformatted (brand new ) and windows needs to format it

I see a bios Version 0501 update on RST driver 10.5.0.1026


check bios for settings on usb

I used to have this issue with my Vantec USB 3.0 dock, but it was resolved by getting a firmware update for the dock from Vantec.
I would check the manufacturer's website to see if there is any firmware update for the dock.

Hmm I've checked the usb settings in bios and all are ok. I updated the bios and also ran the intel web updater. I didnt see any downloads for firmware or drivers on the eagletech website...

The docking station constantly connects and disconnects from the computer over and over. It just pops up in my computer for a second and then it disconnects again. I've tried multiple hard drives too.

Sounds exactly like my issue prior to updating the firmware on the dock.
Try contacting eagletech, maybe they have an unlisted fix or something.

Good idea! I called them now and the guy said right away that it just sounds like its defective unit and there apparently is no firmware updates available to the docking station.

Looks like I've got a shipment to NCIX to make
I'm glad I chose express rma this time! thank you unreliable ssd drives that were also on that order

Hopefully the new one works!

I have an unrelated topic though for in the meantime...

This system is my first rig using an SSD and since I've installed the SSD and installed a clean copy of windows 7 on it the usb file transfer sucks!


Half of the time it just freezes giving me an approx time that never changes..
Also I've noticed that when deleting files on any of my drives through windows it is painfully slow and takes forever to "PREPARE" and "DISCOVER"

Anyone see this before? Im using one 60GB SOLID 3 OCZ drive and some random WD mechanicals. The ssd is running on sata6
