Default System won't display anything with flashed GTX 465

Hi all, I have a GTX 470 (was a 465 that NCIX flashed to a 470) which seems to have died. When I try to start up my system, I get a post beep, but the screen stays blank. I switched to a GTX 280 I had and the system works fine. When I stuck in both cards, to try and troubleshoot I was able to get the system to boot using the 280 as my primary and the 470 as my secondary. However when I rebooted I got the same problem again post beep but nothing after that.

If anyone has any ideas or knows how I could go about flashing this thing back to a 465 without getting anything on the display that would be appreciated

rma time or speak with ncix if said rma was done in by the flash.

you have reseated it since you tried the 285.

the psu and slot are fine sicne you tried the 285...:)

edit : if no luck with rma, then you need a pci card. anything will do.

So I should try with a PCI card and then the 465 in the PCIe slot to see if that works?

reflash or bake it in oven again to reflow solder (bare card) if warranty gone

Default [fixed] No display with flashed GTX 465

Good idea Dangtx!

So here's how to flash a card using NVFlash.

You will need:
  1. NVFlash (Download NVFlash 5.95.0.1 for Windows | techPowerUp)
  2. Hirens BootCD (Download Hiren)
  3. A new bios for your card (ReMOSitory Bios archive)
  4. An Nvidia card
  5. Optional USB Key

Note: BootCD is optional. If you have a DOS disk or a system running XP somewhere you can skip this. Nvflash only works in DOS or XP or earlier. No windows 7 or vista.

The Steps:
  • Dump NVflash and the bios for the card into a directory somewhere on your computer or on a USB key
  • Fire up Hirens Boot CD
  • Enter tiny XP to get to windows XP
  • Open up the command prompt in XP
  • Navigate to directory where you have the files. For all you folks who were born after 1993 and have never seen DOS before...

To change to the drive at the command prompt type "(drive letter):" without quotes. So if all the files are on my E drive I would just type "E:" at the command prompt.

To change the directory type "cd drivename" so if all my files were in the temp\nvidia folder I would type "cd temp\nvidia"

  • Backup your old bios with NVflash:
"nvflash -b backup.rom" Make sure you name the bios something that will help you remember what the bios is so you don't confuse the ones you have.

  • Get flashing!

nvflash --eraseeeprom
nvflash -4 -5 -6 newbios.rom (make sure you actually type the name of the new bios)

If you download a bios from somewhere and it's called blah.bin just change the file extension in windows to .rom and it still works.

Right hope this helps someone who needs to know how to flash a card with NVflash. It seems terrifying at first but it's actually really easy!
