New build won't wake up from sleep

Just built a new system and am having the waking up problem. When I move the mouse it starts to fire up for a second, shuts back down, then starts again and stays running but monitor stays off and KB and mouse are unresponsive.

Specs:
P8P67 Pro
i5-2500k
2x4gb Mushkin Blacklines 1600MHz
Asus 6850
Corsair HX750
OS Drive is a OCZ Vertex 2
Win7 64bit


I've updated all drivers and BIOS, disabled hybrid sleep so far to try to fix the problem. I've been googling it and it seems A LOT of people have had this problem but it seems all those posts are from 2008 & 2009, nothing recent.

Any ideas?

Two systems I built last year had a similar problem. Usually crash on wake, so the settings:

Start->Power Options -> Change When the Computer Sleeps -->Put the computer to sleep -> Never

For whatever reason, I'm finding Google seems to select older items as well. To get more recent postings, Click on Advanced Search-> Date - Change: Anytime to Past Year or Past Month in the drop down menu.

Are you using Internal PLL Overvolt? There's a bug with the current BIOS that prevents sleep from working properly.

7. If the power saving features not working after updating to BIOS 1253, please verify the power profile has been set to balanced mode instead of Performance Mode. As long as EIST is not disabled or CPU Voltage is to manual mode (use offset), the power saving modes will continue to operate normally. Yeah I tried disabling PLL overvolt and no dice. I see BIOS revision 1253 mentioned a few times but latest I can find on Asus site is 1204.

Hmm that's pretty strange

1204 is actually newer than 1253.

1253 is beta
1204 is official, but includes many of the 1253 changes

Which BIOS version are you running now?

I had this exact thing happen on a GB board, all that was required was "Restore to Failsafe Defaults" in BIOS and it came back out from sleep.

Windows Sleep mode is extremely flawed for causing these issues, I don't know if your ASUS board can do that but give it a try.

Yep like ST said it could be a messed up setting somewhere.

There was a bug when upgrading from 1053 to any newer BIOS. You have to unplug the PSU, hold the CMOS clear for 15 seconds, then boot back up and change all of your settings. Some memory/CPU tables (or something) don't clear properly when upgrading from 1053 shipping BIOS.

Failing that you could pm bingo on xs asking for assistance.

something else you could try is unplug both the keyboard and mouse usb cables then plug them back in. just to see if it wakes up the PC.

I think the mobo shipped with 0408 BIOS (or something like that). But I did clear the CMOS after the flash.

KB & Mouse are bluetooth. Logitech MX5500 combo.
