xfx 6850

My step brother just got parts for a new computer and i said i would build it for him. I opened the video card and the only thing that came with it was drivers, no dvi adapter or anything. I'm not too impressed. Now we are having troubles connecting a monitor with a standard vga-dvi adapter. I tried my monitor with just a dvi cable and it worked fine. However, his monitor is old and only have a vga imput. I'm not too happy right now. Any solutions to the problem?

I think it's the card. I was installing windows at the time, and now that windows is done, it just said generic plug and play vga card (or something like that) instead of radeon 6850 series. and the max resolution was like 1400 x 900 or something like that... unfortunately.

Go to XFX or ATIs website and download drivers... When it lists it as a generic you dont have drivers so windows uses it as a rudimentary graphics device, same thing happens to all new cards.
