Default computer doesn't sleep

problem after problem since upgrading to i7.

Now, when i set the computer to sleep it won't actually fall asleep (well it does, but all the fans and led's stay on), the monitor does go black, and the HD does turn off, and pressing the power button makes it wake instantly.

but it won't turn off!

Computers don't sleep!

Anyways, You want hibernate mode on. Can't tell you exact steps right now, at work. What settings have you tried changing in Power Options?

i have changed just about everything i can think of!

disable keyboard/mouse/network adaptar from turning computer on, countless other things i can't remember.

chancing suspend mode in bios from auto to s1 to s3

setting bios to default

setting power options to default (then setting it back after that didn't work).

the computer does sleep/hibernate, but it instantly turns back on (i've been watching it, all the leds and fans turn off for a split second, then they all turn back on again, but the monitor doesnt turn on)

When you set BIOS to default, did you do so with the menu (Load optimized defaults or whatever), or did you use the clear CMOS pin / pull the battery? I bring that up because I had a strange IRQ issue that using the BIOS menu did not resolve, but using the clear CMOS pin did resolve.

That symptom sounds A LOT like a S1 sleep... Is ACPI 2.0 support turned on in your BIOS, and did you force [S3 Only] suspend mode?

i cleared it by pulling the power cord out for 2 mins.

then i used a pin.

it still didn't work.

So i flashed my mobo bios to the original release, then i flashed it back to the newest.

seems to be working now, i can sleep, wake up, etc etc.
it's a miracle, and i hope it doesnt ******* happen again
