Default New"ish" build just STOPS!......??

I built a new machine (see Sig) in May of this year and I have not had any problems - until now. When playing any game for around 25-30 minutes, the computer just stops. Everything is shut off and I can't get it started again for about a half hour. The odd time, the computer tries to restart, but just ends up kind of having "start up hiccups" where it will try to start, then stop, try to start, then stop....it lasts until I go and turn off the power supply. I have tried the vid card in another machine and find that I can run the "atiTools" test for as long as I want. If I try the test on my own machine, again, it shuts down in about 30 minutes.

I have monitored the temps of the motherboard, CPU, NB and SB and they are all rock steady.

The only thing I can think of that is left is the power supply.

Has anyone else has something like this happen? If so, so you know what caused it?

Thanks in advance for any help!

If you turn off the switch on the back of the PSU will it immediately start up again? If so, I'd recommend backing off your mem / NB settings and/or bumping both the NB and NB Link voltages.

I've had similar problems on both 790FX and 890FX chipsets with a 955be and a 1090t. Ultimately, dropping mem settings and/or boosting NBv resolved the issue.

Thanks for the quick reply

All settings are still stock. Also, I can only get the computer to restart if it sits for at least 30 minutes ??

So, even with a power cycle on the rear PSU power switch, it still requires a 30 minute cool down? Have you double/triple checked your connections? Maybe one of the pins isn't making properly and overheating which breaks the connection through expansion (that's a long shot, but the next step is to try a different PSU).

dangtx - never thought of that, I will give it a try

Kapt - I have the second to latest bios, and the latest catalyst drivers. Will try to update the latest bios...and see what happens

I have been playing Borderlands since May. I was able to play for 2-3 hours before the last couple of weeks. I never had any problems until the last couple weeks..??

I will give those suggestions a try and post the results as soon as I can.

Thanks again everyone!

Tried the bios update - no luck..

Unplugged Vid card after crash - no difference

Gonna RMA the power suply back to NCIX

To bad, I thought buying a better power supply would last longer. I have a Ultra 400W supply that is at least 6 years old and still works without skipping a beat...Huh ??

Thanks for the help guys
