Occasional screen blanking

Occasionally right after I log into windows the screen goes blank and I have to reboot. Even while the screen is blank, anything I have running will still be running. When I reboot everything works fine though. A few weeks ago the ethernet port on my motherboard failed and I wonder if this is related to the motherboard going. Or it could be drivers.


Specs:
Phenom II 955 stock
Gigabyte GA-MA790XT-UD4P F8 bios
MSI 465 GE Flashed by Linus to 470 260.89 drivers, not overclocked
OCZ Modxstream 600w power supply
Dual monitors. Both screens blank

Graphics card was bought a couple of months ago. Power supply and motherboard are from May 2009

Check for bent DVI pins in your cable.

Swapped out cables, doesn't seem to be that.

when you furmark uber load the gpu, does it do it or something funny? if so gpu or psu.

probably drivers or some other software thingie in the mix.


load up ubuntu on a cd and see if it happens before you pull hw and or hair

It's funny because when I use kombustor on the GPU it has no problem. It's always about 30 seconds after boot when nothings running...


I'll play with ubuntu for a while and see what happens

software for sure. it probably drops clocks, voltages or suspends something.
