Default Vista Repair Disk Compatibility

A friends computer has corrupted OS files (Someone who didn't know what they were doing turned it off while installing updates) and needs repairing with a windows disk. He is running Vista Home Premium and does not have an install disk. I however have an old Vista Home Basic disk laying around. Can I use this disk to repair his computer?

It may work. No harm in trying since it should just stop you if it doesn't like it.

Typically Vista (and 7) disks contain all editions, but it installs the correct one based on the key.
