Random Reboot

Hey all:

My computer has been perfectly stable for a few weeks now (since my last hardware/system changes). However yesterday I got a random reboot while idling in desktop (I wasn't there at the time). Today I got another one while watching a movie, and it's quite strange. There was no error message, no blue screen, just instant power off and reboot, similar to when you hit the reset button.

Specs:
Intel Core i7 920 D0 @ 3.67Ghz (37C idle, 75C max Prime95; stock VCore; Coler Master V8 + AS5)
Gigabyte EX58-UD5 (BCLK @ 175Mhz)
G.SKILL 3x2GB DDR3 1333Mhz @ 1400Mhz
ASUS GTX 470 (driving dual 24" 1080p monitors)
ASUS Xonar Essence ST
Corsair AX 750 (750W 80Plus Gold certified)
Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit

I know, I know, first thing to question when these problems occur is the overclock. But because there were no error messages or BSODs, and I tested my overclock pretty extensively (12 hours of Prime95 blend and 50 pass of IntelBurnTest), I think it may not be caused by the overclock. All my temps are fine, and the system has been stable in this state for a few weeks without any problems. Obviously if it happens again I'll lose the overclock and see, but I'm just curious as to what else these random error-less reboots could be caused by.

Just a side note, I haven't re-installed Windows for quite a while (half a year), and I've gone from an ATI 4850 to a 5850 to a GTX 470 in that period (I used Driver Sweeper when switching to nVidia). Don't know if it could be caused by that?

yup,drivers could be it. test everything(memtest,hdtune) just in case.

You can stop Windows from rebooting after a crash by doing the following:
Right-click My Computer
Select properties
Select the Advanced Tab
Under Start-up and Recovery, uncheck the Automatic Restart box and then click OK.
Reboot the computer

Now when your computer crashes, you should see the confusing Blue Screen of Death along with an error code.

turn down your overclock until you can fix the issues so you can be sure. just my 2 cents
