Alright folks,
More problems.

My old system:
E6420 u stock clocks
Giga GA965P-DS3 Rev 3.3
2 X 2 Gig Mushkin EM PC6400
Evga 8800GTS 640.
PSU ANTEC TP3 650.

I had issues with the GFX card dissapearing (not being recognized). So driver crash from the get go, and several columns of white lines that appear at the bios screen and on.
Resolution drops to 640 X 480...

I suspected the 8800GTS, so I RMA'd it. I installed the replacement card , got it to work, and a week after, it's the same issue...
could it be the PCI-E slot that died on me?

yes, can be. and since you have only one 16x electrical to chose from, choices are limited. you did try another one(except rma card) right? i saw a couple remote cases where only one gfx would work and nothing else. very extreme/rare. usually somethings borked but with that part it somehow keeps trudgging along

Well, I don't have another card to really try in.
I loaded "fail-safe" BIOS settings. I tried "forcing" 100mhz for PCI-E instead of auto...

I'm about to order a S775 mobo...

I'd be inclined to agree on the motherboard diagnosis, but before you throw it out, is there a point where the bios is stable enough to work with? It's a long shot, but if it were me, I'd try to get a fresh bios update into it just to ensure that there wasn't a corrupt bios.

Again though.... with what you're describing, it'd be a last ditch effort because there's always the chance that the screen might get foobar'd halfway through and you wouldn't be able to see the screen to make the correct selections. (That's what a floppy dos install w/ the proper switches for noprompt would be for).

Well, I have no issues with the computer BUT the graphical glitch/lines and the low res.
I can change settings in the bios no problem...I just got a no hdd installed message also...damn

Is there an automatic bios update function on that board (IIRC, there might actually be a bios file on the motherboard cd that will load up)?

I'm trying the Xpressrecovery2 gizmo from mobo's CD...crossing fingers.
I just don't feel like putting anymore money on S775 stuff...

unrar. you could do it with winflash i think but at a dos prompt like mr wilson says its probably better. will it help? not too sure. borrow a video card, maybe try another psu(unstable voltage?)

i wouldnt replace the mobo, btw the 3 year warranty is up right? unless i were to find a cheap replacement.

Yes warranty is up.
I successfully flashed to the latest version. No dice.
Cheapest half-decent mobo is Giga EP43-UDL3 for $79 PMed.

try to find a used one on the forums or such(that works) for 30 maybe? but spending 100 after tax and shipping? not worth it bro.

again, do try the gfx at least in your frends system or something
