My System Specs

Default My DVD Rom drive won't close

Out of no where my dvd rom drive just started opening at random, now it won't close. Every time I press the button to close it it just opens back up, I've tried taking it apart to clean the laser because this problem has happened before and that seemed to work, but not this time, I've tried reinstalling divers also, didn't do anything, I have two of the same drives and I tried unplugging one of them and now the other one does the same thing, so now I have two drives that keep opening, my cables are not loose so I know that's not the problem. Can't seem to figure it out.

Any reason for this or is my DVD drive just a piece of crap.

If you just go into bios and leave it sit there for a period of time does is still randomly open? How about if you use a live boot Linux CD? If not, then there's probably something going on with the software on your PC whether it's a problem with drivers, or possibly even a virus of some form.

OK, for some reason now both DVD drives are working, I unplugged it and took a air compressor to the connection pins and now it started working.

Thanks anyway.
