Corrupt BIOS? Main BIOS Checksum Error
Every once in a while, when I try to boot up my rig the boot process takes longer due to what I believe is a bad BIOS. I don't have a picture of the screen or remember exactly what it says, but I remember a part of it says "Recovering BIOS from..." That's all I remember. Did I get a motherboard with a faulty BIOS chip? Could this be the reason for my F@H EUE problems? I did verify that my overclock is stable when I built this rig a month ago.
Edit: It Happened again! Basically it's a black screen that says the following:
Main BIOS Checksum Error.............
Retrieving Recovery Source from HPA...............
if it doesnt do it with the overclock, you know what it is :)
usually it happens,i think, when at boot it doesnt give just enough voltage so it goes into a form of safe recovery. that or its just playing with ya :p
Updated first post with details of the black screen
I suggest you update your bios to see if it fixes the problem.
Other option is to swap your battery and see if it goes away.
Yeah, sounds like it might be a corrupt bios that's being recovered from a dual bios setup. Have you tried a new battery?
new bios + new battery.
sounds if battery not holding info or some removeable memory left in machine when shut down
Didn't know that there was replies >.>
I'll try updating the BIOS. As for the battery, I haven't taken a look at the model and what not yet but does it require a special type of battery? I remember these batteries look like the batteries used in watches and my Volvo's keyless remote.
