Quick thought on that (though it's too late now)
Since most members here are from North America & you're in Oz:
North America for some reason uses Fahrenheit as the default temp setting in ovens.
Oz I assume is the same as NZ and uses Celsius.
Did you use the 385f temp suggested earlier but set your oven at 385c?
If so, that'd explain the "too hot" part
