DVD drives taking forever to read

Hey guys, I am having a problem. My LG DVD drives and my USB external are all having problems reading discs. it seems they get stuck in this infinite loop of read and don't do anything. like right now, I am trying to play Battlefield 2142, but it cant get past the load screen.. or when I try to install battlefield bad company 2, it takes forever. I have let it sit and copy files for over 2 hours, and not get anywhere but a slim green bar on the progress status.

now this is happening with 2 different fully functioning drives and an external. I plug all 3 into another computer and they have no problems.

It is clearly trying to read the discs, I can hear it over my GTX 480's fan cranked. wth?

look at the devices under device manager and see if theres anything funny(yellow or pio?) . maybe reinstall chipset drivers. sounds like a windows issue. at first sight.

There are no driver or hardware conflicts in device manager.

Id say try to uninstall the drive from Device Manager, then restart to let it reinstall itself.

Also check out the LG site for any drivers.

LG Product Support

If not, youre going to have to google your driver model...solo search mission.

I had an issue with my laptop before where my dvd drive spun for like a 1 min during bootup, as well when i was loading a game. I found a driver (after a couple of days) and it fixed the problem.

Good luck! :thumb:
