Default Help with asus P5KE wifi bios

questions!

Just installed a E6750 as an interim upgrade on an ASUS P5KE-wifi.

2 issues:

1. CPU is at 2ghz most of the time. Bios is 0503 so it should support the cpu. I phoned technical support to ask if it was a power management issue and how to disable it but he didnt seem to think so and suggested installing an earlier bios.

2. Vcore fluctuation. In ASUS probe it breaks the 10% mark, in cpuz it stays close to 1.16, default is 1.31. Again this looks like a power management feature.

Anyideas what bios is best for this board and if this is a power management issue? I need to find a good oc guide for this board and a good temp program for this cpu (coretemp perhaps is best? the asus software seems a bad idea)

I have this board. Asus speedstep is changing the multiplier on your cpu when under light use to clock it down.. Open up cpu-z, then open a program like prime95 and watch it clock up when under load. Great feature.

Default yes that makes sense

Reassuring Squeetard

The asus support guy must have been worn out. Last time I phoned them 6 months ago it was the exact same guy! He must be their frontline or something.

Anyway as long as this speedstep explains the large Vcore fluctuations in the ASUS probe thats ok. Vcore fluctuations in cpuz are small so ill rely on that. I dont mind having a powersaving feature as long as I can OC with it.

Need to trawl the web again.

BTW:opteron165+a8n32sli deluxe was a dream to work with for ocing. hopefully this board will be good too.

My q6600 is run daily at 3780mhz(420*9). except most of the time it sits at 2520(420*6). Love the feature.
