My System Specs

Default Motherboard, cpu storage

I'm assembling a new system tomorrow but want to make sure the old parts are kept safe.
While Im testing the new system over the next week I would like to store the MB+CPU together.

Whats a safe way to do it? I have an antistatic pad that came with the board and its original box. I was thinking of leaving in it in there, although I don't have the antistatic bag that came with it. I have a metal plate it could sit on as well.

Hope you can help, cheers

Reusing the motherboard's antistatic bag seems fine, but the problem is with fitting the CPU heatsink in the bag as well. It's probably best to just remove it first and clean off the thermal grease to prevent fouling the bag. If you don't have the antistatic bag anymore, putting the board unprotected in a cool, dry, dark, closed space like a cupboard seems okay. I imagine using plastic shrink wrap as a substitute cover will complicate things and cause enormous static buildup.

Default heatsink off then

Yes I think Ill take the heatsink off and find an antistatic bag to store it in.

Theres a number of thick 70's carpets to negotiate before I can find a suitable dark cupboard so that would be safest.
