Default What a wasted night! Sound issues kept me picking at my pc for hours!

Well last night was extremely frustrating, for no apparent reason my Asus p7p55d-e pro, lost its on-board sound... for no reason, just wasn't there.
It was listed as enabled in the bios, and enabled in windows 7, when playing back songs ect, I can see the equalizer moving like its putting out sound, but no sound. The speakers were on, turned up, checked mute in mixer controls, made sure it was the one handling audio, made sure no other devices were interfering with it, or the audio studio utility wasn't after getting setting mixed up...nothing, plugged speakers into another pc ... it played.... so not the speakers, removed drivers and reinstalled... nothing, tried a system restore in case some other driver update mixed something up... never worked, I had backed up my windows drive only a few days back (In preparation for an ssd drive install), with Acronis True Image Home 2010... did a image restore with that... still no sound?... I was resolved to buying a sound card... HOWEVER we ended up having an early morning power outage, for at least 2 hours, I never thought anything of it, powered up my pc around noon and guess what........
SOUND IS BACK!?!?!? I've never seen anything this strange before! Soooo... I'm assuming powering off and unplugging my pc power cord for a few hours would of done the same... I was literally an hour away from being forced to buy a new sound card. Not nice, I really have no issue with onboard sound these days... buy either way... my issue resolved itself... comments???

My System Specs

I had onboard sound issues once, bought a sound card and liked it so much that I will probably do it again if I ever have troubles again. The sound from the card was also of much higher quality.
