Did you do a cmos reset when you put the new cpu in?

I put in the old CPU, booted up, updated bios, put back new CPU, and it boots now!

Thanks a lot for your help. I kinda knew I had to update the bios, but you guys gave me the extra boost of confidence lol

6 cores = a whole different ball of wax.... not surprised it couldn't recognise it......

Good to see you got it working. Disappointing to have a big fancy rig not post.

Those 6 core i7s look sweet and I am envious. My main rig could use the extra threads to handle folding and all the extra crap I throw at it the same time.
