Crashes with the Radeon 5870

Hi folks,

So I received yesterday afternoon my new Radeon 5870. I cleaned up my old drivers using Driver Sweeper to make sure I didn't leave any traces behind from my old nVidia 8800GTS. I installed the newest drivers from XFX site directly, rebooted the computer. Everything seems quite fine... however every time I open a game my PC crashes a few seconds into the game. I created a ticket with XFX support but sometimes they take a while to get back to me.

So questions:

1. What the heck is going on? Can't be overheating because my temps on idle are only 34 degrees
2. Could my PSU not be pushing enough power? I have a 650W OCZ GamestreamX supply, I think that should be enough.

unless faulty, the ocz should be ok. for a single card.
hows temps? seated properly? unseat it and reseat it.
load up ubuntu and try the 3dgears see if it crashes there. if yes, ay caramba

I'll try out Ubuntu when I get home. The temps are good, 33 on idle. I haven't checked on load yet, but they should not be too high

It's all good now, apparently I still have nVidia 3D vision drivers installed for some reason. They did not show up on Driver Sweeper and I must've missed them in the control panel for some reason previously. Anyway, I uninstalled these and now it's all good :)

Well, on my rig, some NVIDIA 3d shtuff was still there, even if I passed driversweeper a few times, So I overkilled it with a few passes or Driversweeper + Drivercleaner pro + manual deletion + reboots between. I think I'm Nvidia free now!

In 2004, I remember buying one of the first ATI X800PRO 256mo AGP from NCIX. I payed $600 at the time!!! Now, I'll never fork that much cash on a single card anymore. OK OK never say never
The 'ol x800pro is still kicking! I don't own it anymore tho.
