Default Weird, comp just crashed wth!!!

Jeez I don't know what's going on. My rig just crashed while I was playing Bad Company 2.

I got the EVENT 41 KERNEL POWER error code. The system powered down with a "clunk", the noise you hear when the PSU shuts down. Never ever had an issue with the computer.

Computer in SIG.

I just looked again and the EVENT VIEWER reports 25 kernel-power issues....
could it be the PSU? I find that the rig is powering a little slower than before, since I swapped my GTX260 for my HD5870 (same power consumption I think).
Or could it be my CPU lacking a little juice?

The PSU is a first gen Antec truepower trio 650W bought in may 2007.

I also seen some errors about superfetch? Could it be SSD-related?
Log Name: System
Source: Service Control Manager
Date: 11/05/2010 7:45:54 PM
Event ID: 7023
Task Category: None
Level: Error
Keywords: Classic
User: N/A
Computer:
Description:
The Superfetch service terminated with the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.

on top of that, I have 1 600 exclamation marks/errors....in two months in event viewer(since I installed win7 64 and the SSD)...

Funny, in SERVICES.MSC, superfetch is disabled, I think that SSD teaking software I ran disabled it.

HELP!!!!!!

thats strange, on a different forum that I frequent there is a person having the same issues they the things that you two have in common are the 5870 vid card the game and a ssd card also they are only using a 520watt corsair hx PSU. I wonder if it is a Driver issue with the vidcard and the game

Well,

Yes it crashed while in game. I MADE SURE that I driver cleaned all NVIDIA stuff BEFORE I installed the HD5870. I used drivesweeper.

now I looked again at driverssweeper and it found more NVIDIA remains for some reason. Some 3D vision stuff. Could this stuff have been installed by another application??? I driversweered it and also ran driver cleaner pro to overkill it!

I installed S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear sky last night with the latest patch. It's the only difference compared to yesterday. Could it be that game that installed NVIDIA friendly drivers???

First thing I would check is Wattage available vs wattage usage during gameplay, sounds like a possible under-power problem i've had before, makes you think harddrive cuz of the hard drive errors the under power causes when cold booting while hot. My psu burnt a transistor for the 4th coil in the box, underrated my 750watt psu to 510 watts.

first thing to lose power is the SSD, go figure... took me awhile to put the nail in the coffin on that one

I looked up on the KERNEL power errors (41) and quite a few people are getting the same error. Seems to be a Win7 error only?

Because there is a lot of people experiencing the same thing, gamers and non gamers, desktop and laptop users, not too sure it's my PSU.

The Windows event viewer seems to fill up with a LOT of various entries...crywolf?

Well, I'd like to think it's BC2, but usually , with BC2 you get a crash to desktop, real quick.
Now a blue screen/powerdown is quite different. So I'm puzzled.
I played again a bit this morning and a few hours last night with no issues.

No not really... You get crash to desktops, lock ups and bsod. At least that's what I got before I uninstalled it and got a refund.
Lots of other people playing BC2 have the same problems (lock ups and bsods)
