OK problem solved, no popping in my new installation. However I may still sell it as I am getting the Asus Crosshair IV which has similar audio. Any reason why I should keep this other than looks?

the audio on the crosshair 4 is just on board. they just through some creative software on it and called it a day.

I'd recommend going for an asus audio card. or a musiland monitor usb dac.

Onboard X-Fi is nothing more than software. The difference in sound quality between onboard (no matter how fancy it is) and a real quality sound card is night and day.

If the problem is solved, keep the card.
