Check what IP the system is using (run ipconfig/all from the cmd.exe console) if the system's IP is also in the 169.254.x.x range, can you manually assign the system an IP address in the 192.168.1.x range (192.168.1.254 is usually safe) and see if you can ping the router.

Change TCP/IP settings

Default gateway would be your router (192.168.1.1), subnet mask is 255.255.255.0.
