Keyboard won't work in BIOS.. Works in Windows
I just started having this issue this week with the ASUS P5Q Deluxe. The keyboard doesn't work in the BIOS. I can't even enter Safe Mode during booting. I have a wireless USB Logitech keyboard/mouse combo. The first thing I did was disconnect the keyboard/mouse and hooked up a PS/2 keyboard from an old computer. Still no response in the BIOS. The way I'm getting into the Main menu of the BIOS is through the ASUS Express Gate instant on. The funny thing is I can use the cursor/enter keys in the Express Gate menu so that indicated that the USB and PS/2 ports are working. Everything also works fine in Windows when using the USB keyboard. I'm thinking of resetting the CMOS but am worried if it doesn't work all my settings will be lost as I won't be able to re-enter them. Then I will be really screwed.

The reason I'm trying to enter the BIOS is I'm getting a OC failure message when booting. I then need to press the RESET button and boot again because the OS won't load from that point. After resetting the error doesn't show up which is strange but I have to do this everytime I completely shut down the PC which is getting annoying.

What to do?

Did you reboot before you hooked up the ps2 format keyboard? Those aren't "plug`n play" and should never be hot plugged.....

Yes I used a wired PS/2 keyboard but it didn't help. There is no communication for whatever reason during POST or in the BIOS. But oddly enough it works in the Asus Express Gate menu that shows up during boot.

Decided to clear the CMOS and take my chances. This time luck was on my side. All back to normal.
