Yeah but he said that he plugged in his Ubuntu hdd that wasn't hooked up at all so it cannot be his HDD, not that one anyways...Yeah mobo or psu I am thinking mobo mind you but one or the other.

Right so if he plugs in a hard drive and it doesn't work then he needs to check the mobo which may have damaged his ide ports.

I would try and reset the BIOS, minimaly go into the BIOS menu to look if all is setup correctly or if anything is wrong, temperature or other.

finally found the trouble maker
it was the diskette drive which was blocking all OS's
Had to rip everything from the case and plug them in one by one on the dining table to find it

Once again, thanks for the help and advices. Although, I still cannot find what is making my reset button faulty...and its making me feel uneasy.
