In that case, it is most probably a memory problem - run Memtest86+ from the Ultimate Boot CD.

That doesn't sound promising
So did it suddenly start doing this , you mentioned it would boot into safe mode but wont now I am assuming that it wont boot into safe mode after the bad system restore right?

Will it repair windows, not system restore?
