My System Specs

Default Windows 7 Installation Problems: Stuck at Expanding Windows Fles

Mom just brought home my new WD 640gb Caviar black so i went to install w7 on it but it gets stuck at Expanding Wndows Files :(. I have tried new sata cables, different sata plug on the mobo and all give me the same resultAny ideas? Please help!! I am installing with my dvd drive btw

Maybe try a different DVD drive to install the Windows 7. The one you have might be going.

If that doesn't work, try using the same HDD on a different computer (for sake of trying a dif. mobo)

did you try to do a install from a USB key ?! I did have the same problem. I have create my own USB install key and it work great and the installation was very fast!

I dont have a usb key big enough :( the one i have is 2gb.

HAd the same issues with 64 bit.
After 20 or so trys it worked... Then crashed every 10 mins after...

Windows 7 = Epic Fail for me.

So far I have only had good luck with Windows 7 on my laptop and since it came factory preloaded with it that is what I believe has made the difference.

Sounds like the disk is shot. I keep my W7 on a usb stick to avoid such issues. Glad u got it working
