Default Performance Improving Suggestions For A Netbook

Hi guys.

I bought myself a netbook the other day. I'm quite pleased with it so far. It came installed with Windows XP. I have Windows 7 on my gaming PC and prefer it over XP, so I decided to install Windows 7 32-bit on my netbook here, and it's kinda slow. Compared to XP on here previously, things take a few more seconds to open, and stall every now and again. Anyone have any suggestions on how to improve the performance? Anything I can disable to reduice my resouce usage?

Thanks for the help.

Here is a good guide. I've used basically all the tweaks listed in this guide myself on a few systems for peeps who bought one not knowing what they were getting. Don't expect miracles....but they certainly will help. :)

Tweak Windows 7 for Netbook

Best options though are to max out the ram and drop an SSD into it (if possible). THAT will speed things up noticeably.

7200rpm drive might help a pinch.

Talking Netbook

I was actually reading an article on why netbooks have XP instead of vista... and usually it's because of memory requirements. I'm sure if you have at least 2gigs in your netbook, it should be fine. Other than that, you can turn off indexing, minimize startup programs, and delete programs you don't need or use.
