ok, now last question.

i transferred all my overly important files (around 120Gbs) and i figure i might as well keep the old drive in case something happens to my new drives (as it has windows 7 already installed on it).

where is the best place to store it? just put it in a anti-static bag and in a box? i figure my old motherboard box is a good spot, as long as i put some foam around it soak up condensation or something

Just put it in a dry room of normal temperature inside a static bag. It'll be fine. Just make sure it's somewhere it's not going to get tossed around. Foam is not needed.

IE: no kitchens, no bathrooms

One of the best places to store a hdd....is in the computer case. Leave it unplugged and just sitting in a slot in the hard drive cage. No chances of static charge frying it, no chances of blunt force trauma killing it....and no chances of putting it in a "safe place" and forgetting where the hell you put tha damn thang. ;)

Next best is in a anti-static bag, wrapped in bubble wrap, placed in a box, and put it in a warm, dry place like a closet.

I leave my spare HD in a sock, in case my roommate decides to get out of line.
