Default Laptop Fan control?

I am using an hp dv1000 and it keeps getting incredibly hot, like nearly 70C and my fans arent working properly. Is there a program that I can use to turn it on manually? I can find some for dell or mac, but nothing that works with mine. Any ideas?

Is it still under warranty? If so, take it back and get it fixed.

If it's not, you may want to remove the bottom cover and clear out the dust bunnies.

Getting software to run on Laptops is hit and miss. I went through this kind of thing with my Compaq, and was barely able to find software to read bios information let alone actually control the fan speed.
