Not sure whats going on . Pretty sure something wrong on HDD. Im trying to fix it for a friend. But I am kinda bad at this so I need some help. Is an Physical HDD problem like platter is not being read by the head. or something corrupt on the HDD? HELP! willing to do anything to fix it and btw i need some stuff of the HDD.

Can you erase the drive and try putting a fresh OS installation on it?

Im not willing to erase the drive. My friends projects are on it. The drive does make weird noise... both could be normal not sure.. I am downloading a bootdisk to indentify the blue screen error.

He says he needs some stuff off the HD...

I would just do a repair install, or rip the drive out and mount it in a different machine and get the data off. Then I would reinstall it using the recovery partition that it should have.

if the drive is defective ( I said if ) , the more you play with it the less chance you have to recover the data.... do as Perineum (what a pain in the perineum user name) say...mount it in a PC , and get your stuff asap.

okay, anyone how to read Blue screen error code? I have the UBCD4 running on iso, where on the cd is the registry editor and how would I edit the registery ?

Edit: with UBCD4win I can see stuff on the drive like music folder etc. Does that mean the drive is okay?

Probably, yes. I think it's just a corrupt install.
