You need to test it in another system to confirm that, but it's possible. It could also be a power or a driver issue.

Also, which games or is it any game?

Do you have access to XP? If you can install XP and check if it works, you could at least eliminate a driver issue. Even after all this time, there's still some flaky 64 bit drivers...

I'm having the exact same issue with a build I very recently did for my gf (brownie points, there they go..)

My gut feel was that it was graphics card too, I`m heading home this weekend and will swap it out with one of the 9800 GTX+s in my current box, and see if this makes a difference. If it does, i`ll just return the 5770 and go with something more stable like a GTX275.

I`ll let you know how it goes Sunday.

ASUS P7P55D-Pro
Intel i7 860 @ stock
Corsair TX750
WD Caviar black 1TB X2 raid 1
Patriot DDR3 10666 4gb (2x2)
ATI 5770
Windows 7 Pro

Sol'n.

Graphics card for sure, swapped it for one of my 9800s, and bingo-presto, no more problems. Updated to catalyst 10.1 drivers, tried again....

Still no dice.

Moral of the story? Another victory for nVidia. She now has a 275 and couldnt be happier.

FWIW, i7 860s are stupid easy to overclock.
