Unhappy (Half) New build - No video

The computer I am posting about is the hardware in my signature.

The CPU and mobo are new. The rest of the parts are old.

I have tried 2 sets of memory in all possible combinations of pairing and slots used. I hooked my PSU upto an old computer which booted up and ran fine (I do not have another 24pin PSU to try). I tried 2 different video cards (and both connectors on each card). I tried each video card in each PCI-E slot.

The computer spins up the hdd, fdd and odd @ post. I put an Windows XP CD in the drive and it sounds like it is loading the files, even though I cannot get a video signal on my monitor.

I only have one HDD plugged in (750).

Also the old parts were the victim of electrical torture (Arcing @the outlet "box?" while the computer was running). I figure I should mention that.

The is no PC speaker on this board if my memory's good. Try to find one and see if the board is beeping. If yes, how. Can you test the ram in another PC? For now this is the best possibilities. If there is no ram bios can't start so hare can be your issue.

Thanks guys. There were no beeps. It's been a while since I had a board with an onboard speaker. I checked the owners manual and my Gigabyte board does not have a connector for a PC Speaker (nor the speaker).

I do not have away to test the Ram. IF it seems like a good idea I will likely take the ram into be tested in a day or two.

I mentioned that the CD drive sounds like its installing (or loading files) for windows XP. It revs high sometimes, then moderate others. Though when I re-stated the computer a minute ago, it sounded slightly more like it was searching for something, and having trouble reading it... Not the best description of a sound lol...

There is a place to plug a PC speaker on the board. In the F_panel area ( where power reset etc are connected ) there is pin at the extreme upper right. Put the PC speaker on these pins. Then you will be able to see or hear what is the problem. If there is sound just take a look on google at that list
Computer Post / Beep codes
If there is absolutely no sound then...your mobo is just fired get to the place where you buy it and get a new unit.

if I understand well, you arc your 120 volts, and after your PC don't boot, so you charge the motherboard and the cpu, if the arc burn your old cpu and motherboard, don't you think it can have damage the psu too, since it's between the motherboard and the outlet ?

you probably change your motherboard and cpu for nothing, it's the psu the problem, it's mean nothing the cdrom loading something, you can plug a cdrom only on a power supply, but earphone in the outlet, and it will play music from a cd.

a power supply have many rail, may be the one that provide the power to the hd work, but the one to the motherboard don't
