Try pointing a 120mm fan down the length of the card.... My first guess would be non-gpu vid card components overheating. (mem / vrms / etc.....).

Definitely sounds like there is something overheating on that graphics card. If you can snag/run evga precision you could crank the fan higher and that may help prevent the problem

I have a 230mm fan blowing air at the components already. I also underclocked it to 550/1375/800 from Alpha Dog clocks 680/1700/800 but it still black screens.

I also underclocked it to the lowest that seemed to solved the problem. So will i be able to RMA it?

Bumps for help. I've tried the 8800GS on my AMD 5200+ computer. I played games on it no problems and the card peaked at ~100*C...

.. maybe it wasn't at stable clock settings and maybe the cooling isn't good enough.. u should probably have the cooler plugged into the graphics card directly so that the GPU can adjust the speed of the fan or so you can..
