Good point. Also, clisk Start -> Run->type: MSCONFIG this will show you all the applications that are in your startup "routine" if you get rid of some of this crap it will put the pep back into the load time and the overall system response as all these apps aren't running in the background. Leave anti-virus and other enabled but you will see alot of apps that can be disabled.

Also defrag if your haven't.

goto Start -> Run and type in msconfig, hit enter and goto the Startup tab and see whats starting up as your computer boots, look for useless things like Adobe Reader and other random things that shouldn't be coming up. If you have any programs like Steam or Limewire that startup as your computer boots, go into their settings and disable start when windows starts.

I do not recommend this method as there are good freeware programs out there to modify the startup items instead of ms config.
