Default Harddrive sata cable keeps falling off

I installed a hard drive and when I put the side cover on my case I inadvertently bent the sata cable at the end where it plugs into the Hard drive now the cable won't stay on all the pins are there on the HD but the plastic piece just over top of the pins is gone I am wondering if there is anything that I can do to fix this or is this hard drive toast?

I've had some sata cable that I bought from monoprice a while ago, they have a special "locking" mech(a silver piece that you need to press in order to release the cable. Not exactly sure will it solve your issue.

A fixed enclose like lowfat mention sounds like a better solution tho!

metal sata clips should work but have you tried tape.

tape or hotglue..I've heard of and seen a few companies (i think Vmicro was one of them) that would hotglue all connectors in place when they were shipping computers so that it would minimize the risk of a hdd cable coming loose and them having to do lots of troubleshooting
