Default OS Installation Problems

OK lets start from the beginning, reformated my friends computer due to constant freezing and crashing, however since the reformat we have been unable to succesfully install AND run an OS. Originally we began with Windows 7 RC 64bit and later attempted to install the 32bit version. With both, we constantly had trouble detecting or installing the OS. Tried intalling the drivers but Windows 7 would freeze up. Soo we began playing around with XP after a full reformat it installs correctly but afterwords the computer constantly cannot find the OS, the BIOS can see the hard drive and I have changed the boot device order multiple times yet the problem still persists. Im running out of ideas :(

If the master boot record had been corrupted from previous OSes then reformatting won't help.
You have take it one step further, you have to delete the disk partition and create a new one. This will remove the references to old master boot record and the file structure.
