Try remounting with the exact same hardware and get back to us. If it won't post, reassemble it outside of the case.

Aha! I did just that before I could even read your post and the results are probably what you're expecting. It posted on my cutting board (I was preparing some parsley to sprinkle on my motherboard before I ate it), but when I remounted it in the case I got nothing. I feared I had sent it spiraling down again, but when I took it back out of the case it booted up fine (well, posted at least, there is no HDD connected to it).

I'm thinking it's a short somewhere. Have you tried remounting without the I/O shield?

No, but I'm going to try that now. Your thinking is spot on with mine, and I'm willing to bet that is the culprit. Dirt I/O shields.

I have also seen excess mb standoffs being the culprit. Easy to overlook. Make sure there aren't any extra standoffs attached.

Okay, not out of the clear yet, but we can rule out the I/O panel, for now. I know for a fact there are extra standoffs (are these also called headers??), so I'll try removing them, but my earlier attempts at doing so were futile--they were screwed in by The Hulk.
