Win 7 has made setting up the RAID very easy. The hardest part now is making sure you are using the right setup in BIOS. I am running an eVGA X58 SLI LE board and it was slick and easy. There was a great post that linked to RAID setup, talking about SSDs but the process is the same.

Excellent ICH10 RAID setep guide for SSD's

Even though it applies to ICH10 it would be similar enough to work through for earlier ICH raid capable chipsets I imagine.

Thanks to Squeetard for the links and advice... very helpful to the community!

~blushes~

Edit: If you use that guide for raid setups using mechanical HDD's you can skip the part about using diskpart.exe to align the partition.

I did skip it, as I did a little light reading before I built my computer. I pays to follow the links and read as much as you can before you try to do something, I think. Also, the old adage of RTFM is true, even though I am a man, and I don't need no stinking directions, I am smart enough to know I don't know it all anymore (getting old sucks, is humbling, but does have some advantages)

TY again for your help on the forums.

Yes it pays to read the manual, but surprisingly, the Gigabyte manual for Shayan's mobo neglected to mention that their Gigaraid solution sucks donkey balls.

Most gigabyte board manuals don't even have the gigraid setup in them
