Company Name: Seagate Technology
Product: Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 500GB/32MB Cache (ST3500320AS)
Warranty Period: 3 years rounded up it seems...
Date purchased: Jan 2009
Date RMAed: Jun 17, 2009.
Where it was sent to: Canada, Ontario, Burlington
Ease of RMA: 8
Any extra fees?: Shipping product to Seagate (~$9)
Wait time: 4 business days (from shipping drive to them to getting drive back)
Details: The drive tripped the SMART check of my BIOS, and both the short and long SeaTools checks failed on it. I created an RMA on Seagate's web site (no e-mails or phone calls necessary), and then sent it to them via Canada Post. They simply sent me the replacement drive; no questions asked.
Satisfaction: 9

Dealing with Seagate was actually easier for me than haggling an exchange (for another HDD) from one of my local computer stores. I gave "Ease of RMA" an 8 because Seagate has strict requirements of what the box you ship them should look like (I use the foam that my laptop was shipped in after a repair) and it was difficult to get all the details of how to perform the RMA on their web site (for a first-time user anyway).
As stated in the contract for Seagate RMAs, I received a refurbished ST3500320AS in return. (if it was new I'd put satisfaction 10)

Company Name: Seagate
Product: Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 500GB/32MB Cache (ST3500320AS)
Warranty Period: 5 year, I think....
Date purchased: Not entirely sure....
Date RMAed: May 25th, 2009
Where it was sent to: Canada, Ontario, Burlington
Ease of RMA: 10
Any extra fees?: Paid for advanced RMA $22
Wait time: had the new drive the day after (about 36 hours)
Details: Harddrive dropped out of my RAID5. I ran Seatools on the drive, it failed the long test. Used Seagate's website to set up the RMA and chose the Advanced RMA since it would save me having to look for packing materials. Their replacement drive showed up in about 36 hours, I opened the box, took the new drive out, put in my old and attached the included shipping label to the outside of the box. Hardest part was dropping it off at a UPS location. Overall because they include the return shipping prepaid I'm only out about $10
Satisfaction: (scale of 1 - 10) 10

Date RMAed: 1 month ago
Where it was sent to: USA, Colorado
Ease of RMA: 7

Details: They ask to sip the memory in a decent packaging or they are going to refuse the RMA, that's true. They send in back to me 1 time. In a envelope, where is the box I send it in? That good packaging compare to yellow envelope. Then I send it back paying shipping again. Waiting 2 week to receive new memory, guess what, she is phisicaly damaged now! they send me new one with new serial number but the ram connector are broken. WTF? and the Ramsink is all scratched. I won't plug this in my board for sure. I don't have open the content because you can see the 3 missing gold conector just by looking at the box. I have always been a fan of there memory but if they ask me to paid shiping for a third time, it will be to much I will order more G.skill.
