Question DVD sudden disappear help

I have a new LG DVD super-multi writer/reader HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GH 22NS 30 internal drive.
I run windows XP Professional SP3. The driver will disappear on its own (3x in one week)
The event viewer in windows registers an error by the Plug Play manager as follows :Event Type: Error Event Source: PlugPlayManager Event Category: None Event ID: 12 Date: 3/27/2009 Time: 11:18:31 PM User: N/A Computer: X58I7 Description: The device 'HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GH22NS30' (IDE\CdRomHL-DT-ST_DVD-RAM_GH22NS30_______________1.02____\5&48dc054&0&0.0.0) disappeared from the system without first being prepared for removal. For more information, see Help and Support Center at Events and Errors Message Center: Basic Search. Data: 0000: 00 00 00 00 ....
This happened before with a different new DVD and this is a replacement DVD. Also this EVGA X58 board is a new replacement board, previous one had problems with ethernet port not working as well. Is this related to the MOBO? Any help will be appreciated.

What is your motherboard? Chipset?

Sometimes doing a fresh install will fix it. (I highly recommend you try Windows 7)

please don't say stuff like this.

My System Specs

Default

Start

Run: regedit (regedit.exe if regedit won't work)

Click the + sign on the following:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

SYSTEM

CurrentControlSet

Control

Class

{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Do not click the plus on this section, you will see either Upper and Lower filters, delete both of these, if you only see one, delete it (either one)
Reboot, try again...

did you try to scan for new hardware then see if it finds it if not just install it manuall from the drop down list.
UI remember this happening to me a couple of times and I can't remember what it is but I do remember that it is a real easy fix you could also try this ( I never tried it but I heard that it is supposed to work) Restore CD/DVD Drives to Explorer
