Default Not so bright cathodes??

Hey,

Well, my EVGA 750i and 4gb OCZ reaper got here today...YAY! . Very impressed with it so far, blows away my old MSI P6N 680i no sweat. That board just hated me I swear!...if I as muched as thought about OC'ing my Q6600 it would BSOD!. Anyways on to the question, I also recieved some UV cathode lights to go with my UV Sata cables and Fans (Which are UV too apparently) but the cathodes are so DIM...they give off barely any light and I have to have the cathode pretty much on top of the sata cables in order to get the UV reaction. So, are all UV cold cathodes like this or did I just get a bad bunch??.

Cheers!

Might be the UV sata cables? UV light cold cathodes are normally fairly dim as they arent supose to put of light as much as make other things glow, sorta like black lights. what brand of CC did you get?

It was a set of Logisys 12" cathodes. I understand what your saying, maybe I expected to much??. Even though I didn't think the cathodes had to be in such close proximity to the UV cable. Also, My yate loon fans are advertised as UV reactive but they don't glow, would the LED be negating the UV effect??

The brighter the ambient light in your case the less your stuffs gonna glow, for a decent sized case Id probubly put 2 or 3 sets of the 12" uv lights if I really wanted a good glow from my parts. Plus id make sure there wasnt much ambient light or if there was that it wasnt bright, aka.. darker purple or blue lighting. That and the logisys UV ccs havent performed overly well from what ive read, I was going to go UV lighting in my case but choose to go with LED fans and blue CCs. To tell you the truth my CCs are almost never on as I light the deep dark blue that my CM blue LED fans put off much better.

Go with AC Ryan UV CCFLs. Probably the best choice out there. Though you need to get them from the States:

A.C. Ryan TWIN Overboost Dual 12" CCFL Light - UV Products Model: ACR-CC6801 [ACR-CC6801] : Performance-PCs.com, ... sleeve it and they will come

Yeah ive heard good things about those A.C. Ryan CCs, not just their UVs but all of them are much better quality then the logisys ones we have available.
