hmmm make a sense... for 6 years old laptop... luckily i get cmos battery from dell case at airport... but i am 100% sure that time in win xp taskbar didn't display wrong date or time like my mother's computer...

i thought it will be very impossible to install win xp on tower ( you mean computer right?) then transfer to laptop...?

no at this morning. i use laptop without a plug and it drains really fast (like 86% to 83% in a minute)

no way... i am sure cpu is not overheated...

its been a couple days, have you had any luck with this install?

i might suggest doing a chkdsk on the drive in the xp recovery console command is

c: chkdsk /f (if you forget the "/f" it wont fix it, it'll just tell you ttheres something wrong

and while your at it try C: FIXBOOT also (this only works in the xp recovery console, it wont work whithin windows)

this fixes any file system problems that the hard drive might have which would cause the computer to fail install.

- boot from a CD and check HDD with any number of Utilities
- this is absolutely no way to install WinXP for the laptop

again the battery shouldn't choke an install

possible causes:
- DVD ... or CD is damaged or of poor quality
- DVD ... or CD burn has failed in some way and is unreadable in places.
- the laptop's drive is acting up and not reading very well.

I would first burn the files again - slowly! - and try again.
- insert a repair type bootable CD (Bart's PE, UBCD, Hiren's, Winternals, etc) and see how well the drive responds?

- will the machine boot from USB?

does it tell you it cannot read from the dvd drive? or is it just not reading from the drive? in either case make sure that your bios is set to boot from the dvd drive.

i just did remove the main battery then plug the wall... it solved the power problem...
i re-burn winxp on CD-R and works prefectly... dvdrw seem not perfectly installed when winxp installed all configures and etc... because i tried to play with it until it prompts the browser dialog so i can navigator it to find if dvdrw is working or not...

no actually dvd of winxp is prefect... and used on two previous computers before... oh yeah i tried usb of winxp and didn't work... ntld is not installing or something...
