Suggestions Please?

Not really troubleshooting but i couldn't find a general area to put this in as I did not want to make several topics. I need some suggestions as to what i should buy. Im looking for a backup Hard Drive. The most i would like to spend is $50, preferably no mail in rebates, and im looking for anything from 80gb to 250gb. This is purely for backup, do you guys think its better to have it internal or external? I was guessing internal since it would be cheaper, but im not too sure. Also, i need some cheap cd's, I always get unlucky and get alot of coasters in my spindles, anybody know of any good brands? Also looking for some 2x2gb 1066 or 1000 ram, also wouldnt like to spend more than $50 on this which i know is very low, but im willing to wait until the prices drop and also willing to buy used. Thanks alot

I can't help on anything else, since I get my DVD/CDs for free, so I can't really pick a brand. And I'm also not a ram expert.

But last year, I got a TrekStor 500GB external HD for about 30$. This was on Boxing Day at FS though, so if you can wait, I'd say wait till Boxing Day this year, and you'll probably find another good deal.

External is always better, a backup is there for emergencies, and in all honesty, that dosn't only mean loss of data on the main machine. If your data is important enough, and say, a fire breaks out, you can just grab your drive and run!

Ya thats the thing, its either pay more for an external, for that reason and also because it would be so easy to transfer files, me and my brother in law are always transfering stuff back and forth and hamachi networks are slow :(. But then internal's are cheaper, do external drives usually go on sale on boxing day? Ive never checked before.

You could always get an internal drive then just buy an external drive bay and put it in there. I do that with a 500GB drive for school, the drive bay was $30.

if on sale its usually cheaper to just get the external drive though isnt it?

Yeah, they usually do. As I said before, I got my 500GB for 30$ last year on Boxing Day, so most likely, they'd be on sale again.
