Ok I've downloaded Ubuntu and UBCD. Now the computer I'm using is just newly assembled and I have no burning software. Can you recomend a good free one? I honestly don't remember what is on my other comp. (It is 5 hours beyond my usual bedtime)

Thanks I just didn't want to walk into a loaded (spyware and such) programs doing a quick free software search. Wish I could remember whats on the other comp.

Majorgeeks is a pretty good site if you're looking for software. Even has a user voting system in place to weed out the crap. :)

Exactly, if it works on my old 98SE Pentium 3, it'll work on anything...

I have either Imgburn or Isoburn on my other comp, not sure.

Well I burnt UBCD and Ubuntu, switched the DVD drive over to discover that UBCD did burn but the 20 min it spent burning Ubuntu did nothing. So I switched it back and it burnt that time. Switched it back again and I now have Ubuntu running fine on my not dead DDR2 rig!

What would be the best way to get a fresh install of Vista 64 and XP on my comp now. Install Ubuntu, then install over that or switch it over to my other rig, format and then move it back?

Also, what would be the best way to set up 2 500GB drives with both operating systems? Both OS on one drive or one OS on each with partitions?

Thanks again, everyone. This place and you people I definately have to be thankfull for this holiday.

Since the Giga boards have a "change boot drive" choice during post I'd install each OS to it's own drive and not take a chance on a boot manager. Just disconnect one drive and make a new partition(s) on it with the OS install cd.

I thought of what may have messed things up. A few days before taking it apart I had installed Warhead on it. The install failed twice and I could only star the game by browsing right to the exe file on the cd. It gave error messages everytime but started and played fine (great actually). Afterwards when I installed a couple other things it gave more error messages about missing dll's.

Could that have done this?
