Default asus p5q deluxe sucks

well... i think asus mobo is the fault which crash at many times...

when i have win xp x64...

before i overclocked ram... it crashed or frozen or whatever in less than 24 hours... fastest is 3 hours...

after overclocked rams... it crashed or frozen or whatever in less than 3hours... fastest is 10 mins...

:| vista must reply on lots of hardware to run fancy vista...

and i thought mobo have problem with rams...

i did run memory test when i build computer at frist time... it passed many tests in 2.5 hours...

yesterday, i use vista's memory test and it passed twice in about 15 mins... i dont think muskhin is at the fault...

so what is really wrong? is it really asus's fault?

<< just gave up and can't wait... no time to do completely OC my computer as vista is installed... just need temporary solution... i mean i really HATE to see it crashs in a few minutes or more...

ps. most odd is when i use IE7+ ie7pro... and it will crash for no reasons...

bit harsh don't you think?

P5Q boards are a good board.. something else in your system is causing you grief.

well.. honestly i think it does... not reliable mobo... because of bios is kept asking me to reset or something... luckily i saved two profiles...

when i build next computer... i will never buy asus product... if i am 200% wrong about it... (not only hardware but also horrible download site)

oh btw... i heard there are a patch for update EPU-6 for resolve memory issues...

last... do you know "how to fix it?"

1) did you check to verify latest bios?
2) did you properly set voltages, timings, and speeds in bios?
3) did you do a BlendTest on your system with P95?
4) If running 64bit Vista are you all patched up?

The P5Q Deluxe has known instability and BSOD problems with the Q9450 using any bios newer than the 0803, supposedly its caused by something called CPU Margin Enhancement in the bios. The solution is to either change the setting from Optimum to Performance, or reflash to an older Bios. I've used 0704 since june with no problems whatso ever. The newest Bios version 1406 is supposed to have fixed this tho. See Asus forum link ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Forum- 1103/1201/1306/1402/1403 BIOS Issues with Q9XXX (SOLVED)-> 1406 FIXES THE PROBLEM!

I guess the first question that comes to mind is; does it crash when you don't overclock?

overclock or not... it will crash... ( i dont know that it was called BSOD)

after i change it to preformance mode... i dont think it will be crashing again... i able to use it for longer than 1 hour...

Keep us updated, if that dosn't work you'll probably have flash the bios to 1406, or revert back to 0803. Good Luck...
