Greg, what's the deal with all these mail in rebates ?

Seems like when a curtain quota is paid out, the checks stop coming ... why is that ?

I have my eye on these:
Mushkin XP PC2-8000 Redline 4GB 2X2GB DDR2

but have been burned with mail in rebates in the past.

Marketing facts of the day:

- Only about 20% (depending on the product type and amount) of MIR are claimed and less are processed
- MIR are used to boost exposure of a new product
- MIR are used to collect information from customers for future marketing and/or data mining
- MIRs often influences purchase decisions
- Businessweek calls MIR a tax for the disorganized

That is all.

You missed one:

- I won't buy anything with an MIR... in fact i won't even look at it. That means.. no OCZ/eVGA/(and lately)Corsair.

When buying a product I go with the actual price without the rebate, the wife fills them out faithfully but yeah I'd say about 50-60% I actually get the cash, the rest just seam to disappear.
