Well said Dzzope. Its a barricade where one is not necessary to say the least. The policy most likely won't get changed but I'm glad to see people understand my point of view on the subject.

Heh... I understand your POV as well, I'm just not sure how easy it would be for the back end folks to implement individual rules for WTB / WTS threads, and then I also wonder if a person would be able to edit a WTB thread title by changing it to WTS.... As it stands, I'm not a big fan of the price check area as it's often used as a backdoor FS thread, but OTOH it serves a useful purpose so it's a trade-off.

I'm not sure what that would solve other than putting undue responsibility on admin to start vetting potential buy/sell patrons. I can tell you right now, there is absolutely no interest amongst staff to be in a position of authorizing buy/sell posts outside of attempting to ensure that they're following the posted rules.

Buyer beware always has been, and always shall be the best and only real protection for members here.

It possibly the only enforceable rule... Caveat emptor.. and the post count thing is the other viable option... get to know the community and the seller... or buyer. It not perfect, nothing is, but there is other options and like most places a post count is a start,,, respect the forum rules... we asked for them... we made them... now we must live and abide by them. and wilson i am aware of that :) been both a mod and an admin... not a fun thing being a shepard... when the sheep start chewing at the electric fence... or canucks... or,...

Heh... out of all of the forums I've seen / been involved with I have to say that the "sheep" on this one are probably the best behaved bunch possible. They typically don't push too hard against the fence, and when they do, there's usually a pretty good reason for it. :)

I guess making at least 25 posts that aren't spam posts helps filter out the bogus people.

And you'll notice that the OP has stuck around, joined the community discussions, and is up over 70 posts in less than 2 months. This is why we enforce the rule.
