just add... i believe 25 posts is required to view and post in the s/b/t section because i think building up trust is important... i just saw some first time poster then runs away... and never read any rules...

edit: i remember there are a unique section that hide all threads [except welcome and rule threads in b/s/t section] FOR members with under 25 non spamming posts...

CTA, if those where the rules when I showed up last month, I would not have been able to give some members what adds up to over CAN$1700.00 in Christmas cheer. Besides, if that was the case, a person could just put in 25 replies to posts in the forums to satisfy the rule.
Or, did I misunderstand, and you mean 25 posts before being able to put something up for sale?

Minimum post counts are useless for the FS section. All that does is create spammers who spam their way to the count. Makes no sense. As a buyer, common sense should prevail and if you don't trust the seller then why would you buy from them anyways?

I personally think its good the way it is. I liked the idea of a minimum post count, but as mentioned, this could result in crap/spam posts all over all the forum.

Perhaps a method to force a "for sale" poster to click through the rules page when first creating a FS thread would be acceptable, but again, the mods/forum admins cannot take on all the security in place of common sense.

The forum could require that FS post be reviewed by a mod. The person uploads his/her description, pics, etc. Before it can show up in the Buy/Sell/Trade, the person selling PMs a mod with the link to the proposed sale. If it is OK, then it appears in the forum.

thats fine...

there is another method like above poster said... "thread approve required" mod is not bad but it means one of mod or admin have to be there to check... seller dislike to wait...

So what happens if 6 months from now we start getting 50+ ads a day? Sorry but that's starting to sound like an awful lot of work....... :)

The key to all of this is to understand that HWC is not primarily a buy&sell website. We do not have paid Moderators like Kijiji or Ebay would have. Members need to get it into their heads that ads here are on par with newspaper classifieds and act accordingly.

100% got your back on this one Steve, policing the BS/WTB section already eats up a huge amount of a Mods time.
