FS/FT/WTB Sub-Forum.

From the looks of it, the FS/FT subforum is starting to get cluttered and hard to read, much like RFD etc. I am constantly trying to look for deals, but the etiquette of that subforum is just horrendous.

EDIT: Mods are currently looking for ideas to renovate the selling forums. Please provide your input and I will edit this as soon as I see ideas that fit!

Ideas considered:

-Update of the entire FS/FT forum
-No more donation threads (up to Gav for now)
-"X" number of posts required to post FS/FT threads
-Allow the splitting of FS/FT/WTB forums into sections for easier navigation for a person's need (perhaps even a sort column)
-"Three strikes, you're OUT!" threadcrapping ban NO MORE TC AS OF TODAY!
-Allow closing of thread by OP when items are all sold
-Allow moving sold threads to "SOLD" subforum to keep everything more organized

I would suggest not allowing anyone but the original poster to make a post in the FS/FT section. That would eliminate the thread crapping.

As for donations, you can just as easily skip over them if they are not your boat.

Thread crapping: I think the OPs are looking for it when asking ridiculous prices. But it's not a reason for other members to jump on him. I've had over 60 replies in my own FS thread, and not a single negative reply.

Now, I agree with the OP that the FS forum should be divided into FS/FT and WTB sub-forums.

Is it possible to have a column that says FS/FT/WTB like on RFD? And possibly a sort function of some sort?

I agree fully. But we also don't have the largest of inbox's and we don't need to have 10 discussions with people about the same thing. As long as the thread isn't a bunch of flaming I don't see anything wrong with discussions in the for sale thread.

Yeah titles are a mess, I also can't stand the lack of attention to detail in some of the posts. No capitalization or punctuation in the thread title or post itself drives me insane. but I don't what we can do about this except make it a rule and moderate it more.

VERY, VERY, VERY, Important and good idea. I wuoldn't personally buy off someone who's had only one or two posts and who's name I don't recognize but we should consider limiting who can view, use, and sell through our forsale subforum to make it safer. I think so far we've not had any issues but I think it's only a matter of time before someone gets scammed.

I remember the post you're talking about. I don't think it's up to the forum mods to limit who and what can donate when. But I do think as a general note we should be careful and obviously not had stuff out left and right. I do remember a few posts looking for free stuff right after the last two builds we did. I personally wouldn't send an item to anyone who wasn't a very regular member. We all know who we are, we see our names all the time so it's pretty obvious.

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying here. But again, I don't see any issues with discussions in the forsale thread so long as they are on topic and not flamatory.

I agree too, they do deserve it but we still shouldn't crap on them. Just inform them via PM and well; buyer beware - if you pay a stupid price for something it's your ownfault. I don't however like the idea of dividing it further into subforums; I think it's too much. We just need to be really firm on the forum title starting with "FS:, FT, or WTB" etc.

I agree the FS/WTB section needs to be updated, not much has been done since last year.

I will say this the donation threads will be coming to a end, it's up to Gav to provide the details. But remember he's busy as hell.

I think needing x amount of posts is a great idea that is implemented in alot of forums and is acceptable.

Splitting the forums into sections is again a good idea.

Thread crapping: Sorry guys but it is going to end, everytime a member craps a thread in the FS/WTB section they get a note against them, hit 3 and vacation time. Some have broken this limit of 3 and have been let off but this ends today.

I am going to drop a PM Gav's way linking this thread so keep the suggestions coming!

It's starting to get complicated ... next there are going to be separate forums for video cards, cpu's, hdd's etc bah humbug.

Just control the thread crapping ...
